Finally...

Well, it had to happen sooner or later, didn't it?

I've managed to get a new, full-time job at Richard Burbidge, a supplier of 'Decorative Timber,' in their purchasing department.  This means that I'll be dealing with getting timber and finished products from all over the world so that they can be sold on to other companies.  It sounds, to me at least, quite an interesting job, but it wasn't the one I originally applied for, which was as a Warehouse Admin assistant.  Bizarrely, I was rejected initially by letter then phoned up about a week later asking if I was interested in the original job and a new position that had opened up that week.  So after the initial disappointment of rejection I was actually offered a better job than the one I had originally intended on doing.

It might not be the greatest job in the world, in fact I'm sure it's not, but it is a step in the right direction.  I won't have to travel so far to get to work.  I'll be working regular office hours, so no weekend work.  I'll not be having to contend with the customers of doom/deputy managers of self-righteousness/company of dream-peddling, then shattering, delight.  I've had such a shit job for so long, I've had no money for so long, that I would have done almost anything at this point, and I seem to have fallen on my feet with this job.

The weirdest part was the second interview, the guy that took it, who is going to be my boss for the next few months, was so sure that I could do the job, and do it well that he began asking me whether or not it would 'challenge me' enough.  I suppose the implication was that I might not work there for very long if I found it boring or repetitive, but I've been working in the most stupefying position for the past two years anyway that anything would be more interesting.  Finding a job which doesn't involve sport, which you'll notice doesn't figure AT ALL in my interests, would be a step up.

I feel like I'm ranting now.  Time to shut up.

V For Versus

I've finally gotten off my arse and composed something new.

Its a space/synth/symphonic rock piece, and if that doesn't turn you off, thanks for listening :)
